Steel production is an energy intensive process with, as a by-product, a range gaseous streams containing H2, CO, CO2, and N2. As a sustainability effort, the steel industry is looking to reduce net emissions and to upgrade components in the waste stream into valuable feedstock for other industrial sectors. The most promising constituent needing development is CO but other constituents, such as H2 and CO2, can be valorised as well.
